An Easter weekend storm forced the cancellation of some events and other activities including Sunrise church services and Easter egg hunts to be moved indoors.
The National Weather Service said showers with a chance of a thunderstorm would continue through Sunday night with a 20-percent of chance of rain into Monday morning.
The heaviest rain came down Saturday as a Flash Flood Warning was issued from two hours. A downpour hit Fashion Valley about 8:30 a.m., dropping almost an inch of rain in one hour. The lower San Diego River began to rise and reached 7 feet by early afternoon and was expected to hit 10 feet by midnight, posing a problem for unhoused people who live upon the river banks. The heavy rain also knocked out commercial train service between San Clemente and north San Diego County.
Several rainfall records were set on Saturday across the county including the cities of San Diego, Chula Vista, Ramona, Alpine and Vista, with rainfall amounts on Saturday ranging from nearly one inch in the South Bay to 1 3/4 inches in Mission Valley to 2 inches at San Onofre.
