The state's CAL-OSHA board has reversed itself for the second time in a week.
Board members withdrew a controversial masking regulation Wednesday. That gives them time to consider a rule that more closely aligns with Governor Gavin Newsom's promise that the state will fully reopen from the pandemic on Tuesday, July 15.
But the California Occupational Safety and Health Standards board does not meet until July 17th so the expected easing of rules may not occur until the end of June.
The rule the board reversed on Wednesday would have meant vaccinated workers could go without masks asa long as there were no unvaccinated people in the same room,
The state's broader plan does away with virtually all masking requirements for vaccinated people except at doctor's offices and hospitals and a few other locations. Withdrawing the worksite rule means the board will now consider changes at its meeting late next week that would be expected to align with CDC guidelines and the state's overall mask guidelines.
