Limited Number of Fans Allowed at Petco Park Under Revised State Guidelines

State health officials Friday announced modifications to California’s reopening blueprint that will allow sporting venues, like Petco Park, theme parks and other kinds of outdoor venues, to reopen in a limited fashion as of April 1.

The new guidelines take effect on Opening Day for the San Diego Padres and other MLB teams. Under the revised guidelines, the Padres would be allowed to have up to 20 percent of the seats filled at Petco Park if San Diego County moves out of the most restrictive Purple tier of the state’s reopening system by the end of the month. County officials say they anticipate that happening.

The revision in the state's blueprint also applies to outdoor concert venues as well as baseball parks. Theme parks, including Legoland and Disneyland, will be able to operate at 15 percent of their full capacity in the red tier though officials said that there will be restrictions on the amount of time that can be spent on indoor rides.
