The Good That Has Come From Evil 10 Years After Murders of Two Teens

This is a story of how something good came out of something evil that happened 10 years ago in San Diego.

Overcoming evil with good is one of those Biblical teachings that are not easy to accept when something evil happens to you, but sometimes when it happens to some people, it can be a lesson for all of us.

There is no better example of that over the last decade than what happened and what has happened to the family of Chelsea King.

Tuesday marked 10 years to the day that the 17 year old teen set out on a run near Lake Hodges and never came home. She was attacked and killed by a man who had abducted and killed 14 year old Amber Dubois just two months before as she was walking to school in Escondido.

As you heard reported on KOGO last night, the parents of those two girls still experience painful memories at times of what it was like when evil struck their lives.

But what they have done since is something to admire.

Chelsea’s parents fought for a new state law that cracks down on sexual predators to help protect other children and they formed a non-profit foundation to raise money for scholarships for teens and named it after Chelsea.

Amber’s mom says she learned to forgive the man who killed her daughter, saying she had to because she had another daughter to raise and she also works now at helping kids in the probation system in a program named after Amber.

The parents of both girls responded to evil with good and now they are making the world a better place for others because of it.
