San Diego Resident Sick After China Visit Tests Negative for Coronavirus

San Diego County health officials say a local resident who developed a respiratory illness after returning from a visit to Wuhan, China, has tested negative for the deadly coronavirus.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed the test results today. The patient has been isolated at home while test results were pending. Health officials say there are no other patients in the county being investigated for the coronavirus.

Six cases of the virus have been confirmed in the United States including two cases in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.

San Diego County Public Health Officer Dr. Wilma Wooten says the county does have protocols in place to deal with the flu-like disease.
