How San Diego Gives at Christmas

It was easy to get into the Christmas spirit in San Diego County this weekend.

Not only was there the Boat Parade of Lights and the annual holiday street parades, it also was a weekend of giving all across the County.

From the East County Toy Drive for the Salvation Army, to the Nice Guys event at SDCCU Stadium….to the Rock Church’s big toy drive, thousands of people helped thousands of other people with toys, food, clothing and more to help make their Christmas a brighter one.

Of course, giving and receiving gifts is what Christmas is about. The Wise Men in the Biblical story of Christmas started it by bringing gifts to the baby Jesus some 2,000 years ago.

And now exchanging gifts with family and friends is what we do.

But this past weekend across the San Diego area there were people giving gifts to people they don’t even know.

And the people who are now receiving the gifts didn’t earn them because of something they did or something they worked at or something they accomplished.

They receive them because of who they are; people in need of a Christmas gift,

And when it comes to Christmas, as that famous little boy named Linus put it, that’s what it’s all about.
