Jojo Rabbit Producers Have to SAY "It's Satire!" (Delicate Flower Alert!)

It looks weird, wacky and hilarious...and the Facebook ad looked a lot like a disclaimer....

"An anti-hate satire by Director Taika Waititi. #JojoRabbit, in theaters October 18."

I think I am right in saying, the producers absolutely, positively, HAD to say that in the ad, because some people do not know what satire is. Despite the Google being a handy tool for finding out what you don't know.

And there seems to be a generation, or two, that has no concept of satire.

I love www.dictionary.com

satire

  1. [ˈsaˌtī(ə)r]
  2. NOUN
  3. satires (plural noun)
  4. the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.
  5. "the crude satire seems to be directed at the fashionable protest singers of the time"
  6. synonyms:
    1. mockery · ridicule · derision · scorn · caricature · irony · sarcasm

Yet, I wonder how many snowflakes, delicate flowers, and people otherwise devoid of a sense of humor, will conveniently gloss-over the use of the aforementioned, satire, to protest the movie?

I would love to say I had more confidence in more people...but there is too much evidence to the contrary.

YOU, on the other hand, might enjoy the heck out of this. Especially, if you can sing along with, "Springtime for Hitler."
