On this first day of March, you may remember that old line in folklore that says, “If March comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb.”
According to the Farmer’s Almanac, for much of the last century or so the trusted source for weather prognostications, the line is not based on weather history but more on ancient beliefs that there is a natural balance in weather as there is in life.So, if a month came in badly, roaring like a lion, then it should go out quietly as like a lamb.
Across much of the country, this first weekend in March will bring some stormy weather with rain or snow and cold or freezing temperatures according to the national forecast.
Here in San Diego, and Southern California, we’ll see some rain again and up north they’ll see some snow again
Not as much as we’ve seen this last month though, that we now know was one of the coldest and rainiest and snowiest February’s on record across much of San Diego County according to the report from the National Weather Service..
But while all this rain this winter has wiped out any fears of a drought returning anytime soon, as the month of March begins, it sure would be nice to see more lamb like weather instead of the lion like storms that have pounded San Diego all this winter. By the way, in case you’re wondering, Spring officially begins at 2:58pm on March 20th.
