Three Children Hurt in DUI, Wrong Way, Rancho Bernardo Crash

Five people, including three children, were injured in a wrong-way, DUI crash in Rancho Bernardo Monday. It happened around 4:30a.m. on Camino Del Norte near the 15 on-ramp, San Diego police Sgt. Tom Sullivan said.

A woman in her 30's was driving an SUV with her 8-year-old, 2-year-old and infant the wrong way when she slammed head-on into another SUV. The infant, who was not restrained reportedly hit the windshield and was rushed to Rady Children's Hospital with major injuries. The 8-year-old and the 2-year-old, who was in car seat, were taken to Palomar Hospital with minor injuries.

The mother and the driver of the other car were both taken to the hospital. Police say alcohol was a factor in the crash and the investigation continues.
