What Not Moving Means To Your Health

The World Health Organization (WHO) says  there are two words leading to many diseases...."not moving."

That means insufficient physical activity is a leading risk factor for several diseases and has a negative effect on mental health and quality of life.

Researchers say it's not just in the United States. It's a global issue.

Several surveys were used to compile a report to find out if people were doing at least two and a half hours of intense activity a week.

They looked at more than 350 surveys  in 168 countries. They found insufficient activity in more than 25 percent of the millions questioned.

Researchers say the health benefits of physical activity are well established and include a lower risk of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, and breast and colon cancer.

Additionally, physical activity has positive effects on mental health, delays the onset of dementia, and can help the maintenance of a healthy weight.
