Evacuations Ordered in San Pasqual Valley Fire

Evacuations have been ordered in a brush fire burning east of San Diego Zoo Safari Park today.

According to Cal Fire San Diego, the following streets are under evacuation orders. 

Rangeland Rd., Oak Grove Rd., Highland Hills Dr., Horizon View, Rio Maggiore Dr., Cinque Terre Dr.,Corniglia Dr., Via Cuesta, Via Vista Grande, Prestige St., Rancho Villa Rd., Weekend Villa Rd., Day Star Way and Rustic Villa Rd. Evacuees have been told they can go to Ramona High School, in Ramona. 

The blaze erupted for unknown reasons off the 18500 block of state Route 78 in the San Pasqual Valley shortly before 1:30 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Authorities shut down the rural roadway between Bandy Canyon and Ramona Highlands roads and cleared residents out of some potentially threatened homes along Rangeland Road. Administrators at San Pasqual Academy, a high school for foster teens near the origin point of the fire, decided on their own to evacuate the campus, police said.

Within 90 minutes, the blaze had burned across an estimated 225 acres while expanding to the southeast, Cal Fire reported. As of 5:30p it's 240 with 5% containment. 

There were no reports of structural damage or injuries as of late afternoon.
