Police are looking for a hit and run driver who seriously injured a motorcyclist in Pacific Beach.  It happened around 2:15 Saturday afternoon on Mission Bay Drive when police say the driver of a Jeep made an illegal U-turn and hit a motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike, and suffered a severe leg injury.  He is still in the hospital and will need multiple surgeries.  Police say the driver of the Jeep initially stopped and ran toward the motorcyclist, but then turned around, got back into the Jeep and drove away.

Police only say that the suspect is a man.  He was driving a newer silver Jeep Grand Cherokee with temporary or out-of-state tags.  The Jeep had rear-end damage and a shattered rear windshield.  Anyone with information should call police.
