Mother's Day Question: What is a Mother Worth?

What is a mother worth?

With Mother’s Day on Sunday, it’s a question that often comes up.  In one recent report, that took all the jobs that mothers often do, the total salary, if they were to be paid for all of them, would amount to just over 160-thousand dollars a year.

That’s calculating the salaries of jobs that include everything from chef to chauffeur, from housekeeper to bookkeeper, from nurse to therapist.

That’s taking all the various part-time jobs that moms have that make up their more than fulltime job and that’s how much the study finds a mom would be paid if she were to be paid for being a mom.

And studies show that the salary a full time mom would be paid if they could be paid is well above what moms who work at a full time job outside the home do get paid on average.

Recent studies also have shown that in recent years, more moms have decided to be full time moms at home, or have become full time moms because there have been fewer jobs available outside the home with corporate cutbacks and consolidations.

But either way, ask these full time stay at home moms if they think they should be paid to be moms and do what they do, and most probably would say no.

When moms choose to be moms, they do it for reasons beyond the money they could be paid if mons were paid and they don’t worry too much about money for what they do.

What moms worry about is what moms worry about…their kids and their families.

And what most moms appreciate more than money for themselves is to be appreciated for what they do for their kids and their families.  That’s what’s most valuable when it comes to being a mom. So don’t forget that this Sunday.
