Thief Surrenders Hours After His Photo Is Shared

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department says a man who used a hatchet and shot a BB gun during three robberies in the East County surrendered hours after his photos were shared by news media.

The Sheriff's Department released the photos of a man who they say threatened an electronics store employee and shot a BB gun at Walmart workers, hitting one.The crimes happened at the Best Buy in La Mesa and Walmart stores in El Cajon and Santee.

Investigators say the man pulled a hatchet when a loss prevention officer caught him stealing a camera from one of the stores.He shot a BB or CO2 handgun several times at a manager while he was trying to escape with at least two rifle style BB guns he'd stolen.

That same night he fired his gun in another store, hitting an employee.
