Arrest Made in Threat Against San Diego Jewish Center and Others

A suspect is in custody in connection with a series of threats made to Jewish Community Centers across the country, including one center in La Jolla.

31-YEAR-OLD Juan Thompson, a former journalist for the Intercept website, was arrested in St. Louis, Missouri Friday.

Thompson is accused of making at least eight threats including the one February 20th at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community in La Jolla. The Center received a threat claiming that someone placed a bomb at the Center with intent to kill Jews.

Law enforcement officials say the threats were part of a plot by Thompson to harass a former girlfriend.

It is not believed that he is the sole suspect responsible for a wave of threats against Jewish centers and schools. Authorities are also continuing the investigation into vandalism at Jewish cemeteries in at least three states recently.
